CSS Students Offer Choice Words at Barnes and Noble Event

On Saturday, November 22, over fifty CSS students wowed audience members at the CSS Read Out Loud Barnes & Noble performance!  Sixth and seventh graders took the Barnes and Noble stage for the second time (last spring marked our debut reading!) and shared original works created in their first quarter at CSS.  Students truly showed off the wide-range of courses offered at CSS through their diverse selection of readings.

Students described themselves through their identity pieces from Prof. Hill's 6th grade ELA class and shared individual poems, autobiographical quest stories, essays, and letters from Prof. Ligocki's 7th grade ELA class. In addition, students rocked out with Geology songs written for Prof. Novak's 7th grade science class, and presented letters written to Barack Obama about issues of scientific importance.  Prof. Gonzalez-Block's elective course, "Rock Your Words!" shared a collaborative slam poem.  Students from Prof. Ligocki's elective course "Speak Up! Speak Out!" practiced their public speaking through individual monologues and poems.  The philosophy classes, too, added their thoughts to the event, through a philosophy play and essays about philosophical topics.  The event was well attended by the CSS community, and a percentage of purchases made at Barnes & Noble were donated in support of CSS.  Many thanks to all students and families who participated! We can't wait to return for our third Barnes & Noble performance, coming up this spring!
