For the Love of Candy

Since last Thursday, I go home by myself. And since last Tuesday, when I missed my stop on the bus, I go to the little deli with a counter of candy. On Tuesday I got Big Red cinnamon gum, on Wednesday I got Now&Later that everyone fought over at Thursday lunch, but today I don't know what to get. I love bright Gobstopperand little Nerds but as hard as I look, I can't find them. For the love of candy, there are so many things here to choose from! Cherry and bubblegum Dum-Dums and supposedly healthy Fruit Roll-Ups. But today I choose to snack on Skittles and "taste the rainbow".

I am constantly snacking, and almost always on something sweet. That's why this deli is perfect for me.

I hear the satisfying rip of the Skittles packet opening and look inside. The little candies smile at me, inviting me to eat them s-l-o-w-l-y, one by one. I have to laugh, and let their flavor fill my mouth as I walk home, thinking about my school lunch. Cafeteria food needs sugar because you have absolutely ZERO energy after eating it. I feel guilty having these candies, I wish sugar was as healthy as carrots. You know, Vitamin A and all that? But then of course, I'd be SO into carrots. It's a trend, wanting food that's not so great for you, I guess. But it's something you don't understand unless you love candy like I do.
